Has anyone used Valerian Root for sleep instead of melatonin?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to improve my sleep naturally and came across Valerian Root tincture. I switched from melatonin because it sometimes made me feel groggy in the morning.
After about a week of Valerian, my sleep seems deeper but not heavy like I actually wake up rested.

I’m curious if anyone here prefers Valerian, Passionflower, or Ashwagandha for sleep and relaxation? Also, do you take it before bed or throughout the day for anxiety?

My son is on adhd meds and when we had a discussion with the psychiatrist about melatonin vs valerian he said that melatonin is better because it does not changes the structure of sleep like valerian does.
im afraid i did not ask any more questions but maybe google can give you more details?
