hi all. hope someone out there in cyber space can tell me what to do! back in february we agreed to move our broadband/home telephone service to Orange, and to leave BT. The problem is, we have been paying Orange , but still receiving line rental bills from BT. we've telephoned BT and as far as they are concerned, the agreement is that we get our line rental from them, and our call charges through Orange, and that Orange hav'nt notified them otherwise. .However, we are paying Orange for both line rental and call charges.. We have emailed Orange several times and phoned them on numerous occasions, they seem to be unable to provide an explanation. we have asked to speak with a supervisor, twice. Each time they say that the supervisor is busy and will call us back, but they never do. Basically, we feel that we are just being fobbed off. we have agreed to an 18 month contract with Orange,so don't know what to do next. I am tempted to just cancel their direct debit and wait to see what happens..maybe they will pay more attention id I do this? what i don't want to happen though is to be chased for payment from either company and then consequently be credit black-listed. please help!!

www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ might be worth a call

DO the Orange bills break down what amount is call charges and what amount is line-rental? If so, you can cancel the DD, and just pay (by cheque/cash) the call charges figure (make sure you've added on the VAT amount). At least that way you're paying something which may reduce the risk of it affecting your credit rating, and it may make Orange pay some attention.
I think rather than phone you should write to most high up the chain person you can think of and send it by registered post, so you can prove that you've tried to make contact to resolve this.

hassled. no the orange bill does not actually show the call charges/line rental as seperate. . although the package we are on is their home max package which includes both, and they have sent us a live box(their equipment for an internet phone line). the blonde, thanks for the link i will use it.

I had problems with orange last week and was without broadband for 2 days, their livebox wasnt working and they had no explanation except some people were having problems with a server so I asked for their complaints department and was left hanging on the line so long I put the phone down in rage and unplugged the live box and re-installed another modem and it worked perfectly, im waiting for the phone bill now to tell me how much my call to their overseas technical support is going to cost me
