6 months ago i bought a used car from and garage and to cut a long story short, i was ripped off and it would take about 2 thousand to put my car right, i paid 2 and a half thousand for it in the first place. I tried to get garage to sort but was fobbed off until after warranty and was then told to go away not our problem, i decided i was going to take this further and thought that mentioning court proceedings would make them do it, but no it has gone all the way and i have to go to court, all i have ever seen is court on telly then you get cross examined and ripped to pieces, i am sure its not like this, but anyone have any idea's what to expect.

I suffer panic attacks and have been tempted to drop this, but we saved ages and i am not going to give in. help

Ok so now great suprise that the garage have not contacted me to arrange collection/payment. the court ordered them to pay by 2-May (Today), but put that they must contact me before the end of April to arrange.
Just wanted to know what happens now, obviously I am going to pursue this matter, if I call the court today they will only say wait till monday, but I just wanted some idea on what I can do next. (here is hoping that they call me later on today, which I do not expect for a minute that they do).
I have thought of going to the paper, but someone said something about I probably can not because it has gone to court. Any idea's on this one.
Thanks you guys, kind of hoped this thread would be dead and burried.

No advice for you as I haven't been in this position but hope you get some good advice that works well on the buggers. Thinking of you.

What happens next.... in your case the most likely thing is to go back to the court and get a "warrant of execution" - which doesn't meant that they get hanged or beheaded , but does basically mean that the court bailiffs can seize cash or goods from them to cover the debt. There are various other things you can do though - right up to issuing a bankruptcy petition against them - see here

Sods law, Garage have just called and coming to look at the car today at 4.

Giving me a company cheque, I have told them they are not collecting the car until it cleared funds.

Result of such.

Just to let you know I met the garage owner (who was actually pleasent) paid the full money and told me to call him when the cheque clears. Just wait now to see if it actually clears.

breeze, that's fantastic! (Well, it will be if the cheque does clear OK!)

I think you should put this on the proud thread - well done you for seeing it through.

Just when you thought this subject was closed.

Another question.

I have received money from the garage and it cleared no problem, but they still have not collected the car from my parents garage. I arranged a day with them and they didn't show up, as it has been in the garage since Sept 02 my parents had had enough because they were not able to use the garage for there own purpose. My mum even called the garage to ask them to come and collect and all she got was lairy comments (I will get it when I want to sort of thing). so she informed them that the car was going to be pushed out and left on the road.

Thing is I have sent the log book to the DVLA transferring ownership over to them (they were supposed to sign it but as I have not been able to get hold of them I thought it better to send it off with a covering letter).

The road tax also expires at the end of the month.

Basically what I want to know is that if it gets towed away would I be liable for any costs.

I have sent a letter to the garage confirming all this in writing (as I know what they are like).

Just goes to show that they are not too keen on getting the car back as they know its a pile of poo.

Thanks

It's your local council who would do the towing away - so you could try contacting them and asking them how they would handle this situation.
