Wanting a sounding board more than anything. We've been searching for a house to relocate to Devon for months. Got a great buyer for our house and found our dream house. An old cottage which needs a lot of work but that's fine as my husband is in the trade and we can see the potential. Our move date was set for end of July however we've just had our lender do the valuation and had the survey and two things came back: 1 - it's single skin on 25% of walls so our lender won't lend, 2 - there's a damp issue / roof is not great. Sellers have used modern materials on the old property and made it worse so it needs 'undoing'.

Our lender is tricky because we were going to port due to early repayment charges which we now can't do. So the plan is to go back to the seller and ask for a reduction in price (like 20k reduction).

To add in to the mix this is all going on while we're having to change school preferences so to start again with that with another house would be a nightmare. Anyone else been in this situation?

Thanks
