Leather seats in cars on hot days

So, not only do I hate DH's new car because it's a gas guzzling extravagant tank, it's not uncomfortable to sit in when it's been in the sun. I can just about manage for myself but feel sorry for DS.

Is there a more tasteful alternative to the beaded seat covers that were around 20 years ago?

Sheepskin. It seems counter-intuitive, but that's what people used to put on their car seats when we lived in Africa (this was pre-aircon days). It gets warm in the sun, but never hot enough to scorch your skin, unlike leather or the old-fashioned vinyl seats.

That's weird, yes I'd have thought sheepskin was too warm to sit on. I guess we could just put it on when DS is around - I can't imagine convincing DH to keep a sheepskin cover in his swanky car
