Hello Mumsnet, hope someone can help, what I am going to ask a lot of people could be in same boat . I gave up a 3 bed house in Cardiff to move to Swansea into a 2 bed house, now I have moved back to Cardiff, and in a 2 bed top floor flat ,my son has decided to move back in with me and his sister and it's over crowded , I have Carpal tunnel syndrome and need some help, and my son has special needs and to the Council that is nothing, nothing to me is my son needs a bed room of his own he cannot sleep on the sofa for the rest of his life. People been telling me me to go Private but a lot of the things I have heard have put me off going down that road . If any one can suggest something. I can do I would be very grateful.

Contact CAB and Shelter for advice

Can you not swap council flat/house with another person who wants to swap? That's probably your best bet here.

If you use Facebook there's council swap groups on there. It'll widen the search for you.

In the short term, swap out the sofa for a bed, daybed or futon and you sleep in their so the children can have their own rooms.
