Hi, I am currently researching an academic article. It's from a broadly legal perspective, on how women with PND are viewed and constructed as temporarily hormonally mad and even murderous (dangerous to their children, etc) whereas the actual experience may be very different.
For instance, PND may last anything from 3 months to 10 years... it can feel like a terrible agitation (as it was and is for me) or a sort of long term deadness. I want to collect some accounts from other women as to how PND or depression encountered as a mother (which they attribute to motherhood) feels and has affected them...
my aim is to try to give the first person perspective which is missing from the legal/psychiatric accounts of madness. I'm hoping to take it to conferences etc and get it published in a legal/literary journal but I promise you I'll make not a penny from it...
If you have previously written anything you would feel able to share with me, etc, please let me know, or if we might be able to chat about it etc, please send your details. Don't have CAT yet but will get it. Thankyou.
