Anyone know about art therapy ,also can you pay for it privatley?

A while ago my dd's HT thought my dd would benefit from this .
She then left and the new HT won't consider it .
I am thinking of HE from September and wonder if it might do her some good .
Can anyone tell me their thoughts on it and also if you can pay for sessions or do you have to get a referrel for it?
