Toyota Yaris? Fiat Punto? Daewoo Matiz?

PeaGreene · 02/05/2008 21:59

Don't know if they're new or not but DH has decided (!) my next car will be a Toyota Aygo (or Iago???) (sp?) Apparently they do 65 mpg and cost £35 a year to tax.

lizandlulu · 02/05/2008 22:02

my mum has a peugeot 206. good on petrol and cost £34 a year to tax, dont know about the emissions though.

KatyMac · 02/05/2008 22:03

lizandlulu · 02/05/2008 22:06

i know, the first time she taxed it she thought they had made a mistake!

Heated · 02/05/2008 22:12

for petrol have a look a these

diesel

And then could try car supermarkets like motorpoint, motorhouse, trade-sales if you want something a year or two old since that's what they generally specialise in.

KatyMac · 02/05/2008 22:16

What are the Tax codes A & AA what do they mean?

OP posts:
pootleflump · 02/05/2008 22:18

I have a Yaris - supposedly 60 odd mpg and only £35 per year to tax

silverfrog · 02/05/2008 22:20

audi A2? would have to have one 3/4 years old, a have stopped making them, but is an excellent car.

we love ours - it's a small car, but is enormous at the same time (confused emoticon) - seriously, has more passneger space than most big cars I've been in!

heymammy · 02/05/2008 22:23

I have a diesel Citroen C4 which I know has one of the lowest emissions and according to the wee display thingy on the dashboard I am getting 50.4 mpg from current tank of fuel.

Heated · 02/05/2008 23:03

vehicle excise duty

Band A will pay nothing, band B £35...

Heated · 02/05/2008 23:22

Petrol cars costing £35 VED & below 1.6 for the lower car tax band:

Matiz 0.8S 5dr hatch
Citreon C1 1.0i 3 & 5 dr
Daihatsu Charade L251 1.0L EFi
Daihatsu Sirion M300 1.0L EFi
Fiat 500 1.2
HYUNDAI i10 1.1l SOHC (13" & 14" wheels)
Kia Picanto 1.0
MITSUBISHI i 0.7 mivec turbo i automatic
PEUGEOT 107 1.0 (68 bhp) 3&5dr
Smart
Subaru Justy 1.0
Toyota Aygo
Vauxhall Agila

If you want a petrol car with more oomph then you'll need to go to band c which is £120 a yr.

But you can get get bigger cars, eg volswagon polo 1.4 on the same £35 if you go diesel
here

KatyMac · 02/05/2008 23:26

Don't need bigger

3 mile journey 2-4 times a day plus 10 miles 3/4 times a week
