May 19th is dyslexia awareness week. With the correct training and support all our children won't slip through the net.

The goverment needs to take action. It's an interesting site . I have had to fight for two of my children to have there dyslexia recognised and I still fight everyday to get them help.

Please sign it ...

Many thanks Banana

at the moment trainee teachers receive ridiculously inadequate levels of training in all areas of 'special education' In some places - it's half a day. For everything!! There have been modules piloted around the country and the hope was that the gov't would introduce them for everyone (compulsary) but sadly it's still a pick and choose option. Or not. It's very grim I agree - will try to find links on these modules - they look fantastic and (I think) will be available online.

I thought Dyslexia Awareness Week was in November? Necessary idea anyway - I did the Dyslaxia Action PG Course to support my ds. It all gets worse at sec level as well. Good luck with the training!
