That's it really. I have tried asking him. He just repeats me. Looked in other free locks around the house, been through the bin. Any suggestions? We have no spare cash at the moment and can't face a locksmiths fee! It has a bolt thank goodness.

In a car, which is in a lorry, which is at the bottom of a bag, under my bed, behind some books.

marina · 26/04/2008 20:44

Washing machine
Own wellington boot
Someone else's shoe/wellington
Cutlery drawer
DVD/video recorder slot (sorry )

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 26/04/2008 20:44

in the seat of his ridey truck thing?
in his pocket?
does he have a bag?

marina · 26/04/2008 20:45

Out of catflap
Down toilet

mylittlepudding · 26/04/2008 20:45

Under the washing machine, fridge, any other cooking appliances.

Washing basket/nappy bucket, etc.

In any box of toys

In a shoe

In any openable cupboard

DD is a few months younger than yours but is big into drawers at the moment - Daddy's bedside table contains half the contents of the house I think!!!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 26/04/2008 20:45

under settee cushions
under settee
washing up bowl

wessexgirl · 26/04/2008 20:46

Had a similar experience the other week, and ended up crawling through the house at 2 y.o.'s height, scanning everything from her level. It turned up in the oven of her toy kitchen . Hope you find it.

weebleswobble · 26/04/2008 20:46

Give him another key and tell him to put it with the other one, then follow him.

YeahBut · 26/04/2008 20:46

Near something with an obvious keyhole that he/she will have tried to unlock but failed.
Or posted in the dvd player.

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 26/04/2008 20:46

out of catflap is a good one. both dd2 and ds used to "post" everything they got their hands on through the catflap - neighbours thought it was hilarious till they started climbing through themselves and playing in the neighbours garden

friendly · 26/04/2008 20:46

Have checked the video slot! Not in his pocket or the washing machine. Will check his little area in the kitchen...

Psychomum5 · 26/04/2008 20:49

in the goldfish tank, which is by the back door!!!

or, in someones shoes....

AdamAnt · 26/04/2008 20:49

Oh I know this one!!!

It's in the chest of drawers in your sitting-room, underneath the sellotape and other stuff for wrapping presents.

Either that, in the hammocky-shopping-bit underneath your buggy.

I am still riding the high of a joyful reunion after a 5 day separation.

B1977 · 26/04/2008 20:50

in your purse - not bag?

pinkyminky · 26/04/2008 20:50

In shoes
down side of cooker where no-one can get at it
Under any piece of furniture
second the cat flap option

B1977 · 26/04/2008 20:50

behind a radiator?

MrsWeasley · 26/04/2008 20:50

DD took my keys put them on hood of toy pushchair, closed hood and put pushchair in wendy house. DH looked in wendy house many times, in the end we had to wake DD and ask her. She told us "in my pushchair" it still took us an hour before we twigged she mean her pushchair

BroccoliSpears · 26/04/2008 20:50

In a shoe or boot.

Bky · 26/04/2008 20:51

Shoes are very popular for hiding my car keys with my 19 month old.

hatwoman · 26/04/2008 20:53

this happened to me once...dd had put it in the bin. it was our only back door key so rather glad I looked before bin day...

friendly · 26/04/2008 20:53

I will try giving him another key tomorrow ww. Thank you for all your suggestions. That should fill my evening nicely! Trying not to obsess about it but find this sort of mystery very annoying. Hope it's not down the loo. Had a quick look but might get out the rubber gloves. Actually just remembered that the hook and eye I installed to prevent ds entering bathroom on his own ( his favourite room) was amazingly hooked shut.
