Have people got a bit cynical about media requests on here - not many replies any more

I've noticed that the media requests threads don't really get many replies these days - possibly because some of them look like they are the usual sensationalist nonsense?

I'm a regular Mumsnetter and am thinking of posting a request but before I cough up my hard-earned cash I want to know whether people are likely to reply since so many don't even get a response. It'd be looking for respondents for a survey to feed into a parenting book I'm writing. There would be a prize draw for respondents and everyone mentioned would be thanked in the book with a mention. I won't say more here as I don't want it to seem like I'm trying to sneak my request in for free!

Worth coughing up my £30 or not worth it?

I think if you're a mn regular you'd get a more favourable response?

MNersanonymous · 23/04/2008 19:45

Ha ha I look like I absolutely cannot write with 'everyone mentioned would be thanked in the book with a mention' - ds was snapping around my feet and distracting me!

Any other views on this - should I go for it or not?

If you are writing a parenting book, I think folks would be happy to help. If you are writing an article, people are less inclined for some reason I think. do it in your reg posting name if it doesn't blow your anonymity

MNersanonymous · 24/04/2008 13:56

hi
I guess it would blow my anonymity but I have thought of ways of making it obvious I'm a regular at least!

I agree there is definitely more cynicism generally about journalism than books.

MNersanonymous · 24/04/2008 14:33

I do it.

Get one of MNHQ to vouch for you if you are concerned about

I think books/research tend to attract less suspicion than TV programmes/newspaper articles, myself
