Travel to US during first trimester after previous miscarriage

Hi all,

I am currently pregnant (very early days) after my miscarriage last August. From UK, I’ll be flying to Florida on the 9th of October for a holiday. So I would be 5 weeks pregnant then and coming back the next weekend when I’ll be 6 weeks.

Since I have history of miscarriage, I am at high risk for another one so I was not recommended to go ahead by my friend who is OB-GYN and I completely understand this.

But I’m just wondering if anyone of you had experienced travelling in the first trimester of pregnancy after a previous miscarriage? Have you had any problems or were you advised the same?

Thank you very much.

I wouldn’t go to Florida in this situation given the overturning of Roe vs Wade. I would be worried that if I was having a miscarriage there could be issues with judgement and treatment.

Thank you for your response! I’ll keep that in mind.

I was meant to go long haul business class to Asia (so could have had my feet up and moved around more) and chose not to because I’d found out that my miscarriages were caused by a clotting issue that would have been higher risk with air travel. No regrets here with 4 weeks to go until birth!

From a medical perspective the dr said I was fine to go with precautions (support stockings and blood thinners I was on) but I still felt like it wasn’t worth the risk.
