Do you know a Mr. Pashley?

It's a long shot I know, but I am trying to trace a friend of my father's from about 25 years ago.
Mr.Pashley lived in Edinburgh or the surrounding area at that time. My father, who was a musician and conducter, left some reel-to-reel tape recordings of his own music, mainly from theatre productions at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, and possibly about half a dozen diaries or hardback notebooks from the 1970's with a Mr. Pashley when he left Scotland around about the mid 1980's.

My father lived abroad for the rest of his life and although he asked me and my siblings to try and find Mr. Pashley and the things my father had left with him we were never able to find him. My father died a couple of years ago and I would like to have one more shot at finding his tapes and diaries.
If you know anyone of this name please could you ask them if any of this rings a bell, and ask them to mention it to relatives of the same name, particularly older ones.
Many thanks.

Would it be possible to contact them all? Would it be complicated or very time consuming for you?
I could edit my OP and email it to you and you could forward it perhaps. {tiny flame of hope}

I'd be happy to.

Shitemum · 22/04/2008 21:50

Thank you so much! I will try and write something coherent tonight. What is your email?

Shitemum · 22/04/2008 21:59

If you have already, or when you do, could you drop a note here? I'm a bit worried about my ravenous junk filters.

Shitemum · 24/04/2008 21:14

Thanks - I haven't sent it yet and now DP says we have to watch a film that has to go back to the video shop tomorrow!
Will post here when I've emailed you.
Thanks again!

Derek Pashley at genesreunited has replied, and he is not the man in question. One other respondent couldn't help. That leaves only a slim hope, I'm afraid.

My ancestry subscription has lapsed, and I don't use scotlandspeople, but I can still see that only 3 Derek Pashleys have died in the last few years: in 1997 in Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire, 2002 in Lincolnshire and 2003 in Yorkshire. No Derek Pashleys have died in Scotland.

192.com lists 2 Derek Pashleys in the 2008 electoral roll, down from 7 in the period 2002-2007. I'm not sure what accounts for the numerical discrepancy.

Shitemum · 25/04/2008 21:18

Oh that's a pity but thanks for trying.
When you say 192.com lists 2 Derek Pashleys in the 2008 electoral roll do you mean the roll for the UK or for Scotland?
Many thanks again, maybe one of the others will answer?

Trouvere · 25/04/2008 22:24

192.com seems to check both England/Wales and Scotland; at least, I appear in it, and I'm in Scotland.
[More confusingly, a woman I've never heard of apparently lived with me sometime between 2002 and 2007. I wonder if it's worth paying to find out more about her. Bizarre.]

Maltatheterrible and Trouvere:

My sister has found an old letter from my father which says the man's name was David Pashley, not Derek. It also refers to another friend who would probably know his whereabouts.
Really sorry to have put you to trouble!
Thanks again for your help and interest.

There was a teacher called Mr Pashley at my school in Durham about 15 years ago? Probably early 60's now?

Shitemum · 27/04/2008 20:54

OP posts:
geordieminx · 27/04/2008 21:04

physics I think?(just had to check on freinds reunited) probably not the same person then

Shitemum · 27/04/2008 21:07

geordie - Could be but probably not, thanks anyway.
I have now contacted my Dad's friend and will await a reply from him. Hopefully he'll be able to fill in the gaps...
