What to expect for sentencing at court on Friday?

Ladieunlucky · 23/09/2024 07:51

Im being sentenced this Friday at crown court. I was charged for fraud under false representation due to a manic episode where I stole money from employers. I have bi polar disorder and was un medicated at the time. I handed myself in when I realised what I did and I have lost all my friends and reputation, butonly what I deserve. This charge is because I was in a position of trust. I have seen a psychiatrist for pre sentencing report.

I’ve been advised the sentencing guidelines start at 3 years, reduced by a 3rd because of my early guilty plea and co operation. Mitigating factors are I have not offended before, early plea and co operation, previous good character, have a 15 year old who I have joint custody with. And also my mental illness.

I am prepared for a custodial sentence and just wondered what I can expect on the day in court, how long it takes as no there is no trial. And what to pack in my bag to bring to prison?

I understand this may be my fate and what I deserve and have never once said I’m not guilty. Please just kind comments as this time is very difficult x

Whatever happens on Friday, OP, please keep taking your medication.

I have two friends who have Bi Polar diagnoses. One takes his medication, the other doesn't. I have tried to support my friend who doesn't take her medication as much as possible, but it is emotionally draining. I'm now having to withdraw a lot from her because it's exhausting.

WhatMe123 · 23/09/2024 12:56

I've seen your other posts, chin up. I wild hope it's a suspended sentence as they'll take into account your diagnosis. Good luck

Well, I hope that you don't get a custodial sentence, and considering how other people who have recently been in the news have got suspended sentences for crimes that are much more heinous (and have no diagnosed mental health issues as far as I am aware) I would be fucking disgusted if you did.

Can't advise otherwise but have everything crossed for you.

This. No advice OP but I wish you all the best and goi don’t deserve a custodial sentence.

Charleyarleyfarley · 23/09/2024 13:16

Huw Edwards getting a suspended sentence for his atrocities but you looking at a custodial is diabolical.

I’ve read your other threads and it’s quite obvious just how remorseful you are and how much you have already had to face repercussions for your actions. I really hope this is taken into account during sentencing and wishing you the best whatever the outcome Flowers

Did you actually read the OP’s post? She’s specifically asking what to expect in court on Friday, how long it’s likely to take as it’s sentencing only, no trial, as she pleaded guilty, and what she should pack in case she does get a custodial sentence and is transferred straight to prison from the courtroom. What an unpleasant reply to someone who couldn’t be lower at the moment.

OP, I remember your posts and will be hoping your sentence is suspended. Very best wishes.

I would never have thought of not wearing jewellery, but I get it now. I understand the no drawstrings stipulation, but why no all-black tops, @IdiotPolice or @FunLurker ?

Prisons don't like prisoners or visitors in block colours or things that are easy to blend into the crowd with. Some prisoners aren't allowed pockets

The prison staff wear black and it helps them tell people apart on cctv and during incidents

Thank you everyone. Your all so kind. I’ve spent the day taking in what could my last train journey. Or walking into my dog. You don’t realise how much you want to live when it may be taken away from you. Crying is all I’ve done today x

Bless you OP. I really hope for a suspended sentence for you. I'm glad you used today to do some really special things. Big hugs OP.

TheBossOfMe · 23/09/2024 21:29

Another poster here wishing you the very best outcome - it would be a travesty if you got a custodial sentence for this under the circumstances. You’ve already paid your dues IMO - a custodial sentence would serve no further ends. Very best of luck to you @Ladieunlucky Hoping to see you back on this thread at the weekend.

Ladieunlucky · 23/09/2024 21:31

I’ll be here Friday if I’m lucky to be given another chance. I’m expecting the worst that the only way to cope 🩷

@Ladieunlucky I have seen a few of your posts about this and you are one of the bravest people I have seen. From your posts alone I feel like you have already punished yourself more than you deserve and served your sentence. I hope the judge sees what we see in you. I will have everything crossed for you on Friday and I am sure I’ll shed a tear when you return to inform us of a suspended sentence. I will be praying for this outcome for you.

Sorry I don’t have any experience of courts or prisons to answer your questions but it looks like there’s some good consistent answers on here.

Good luck and keep shining 🌟

Wishing you all the best OP.

BarbaraHoward · 23/09/2024 21:55

Remember whatever happens on Friday, it's the start of you putting this behind you. You will rebuild your life, whether there's a pause for a custodial sentence or not.

Praying you receive a suspended sentence OP. If Huw Edwards can receive one and not you then there is no justice in this land.

This!

merryandbrightdelight · 23/09/2024 22:00

Best of luck op, hope you get continued support

LightSpeeds · 23/09/2024 22:03

Wishing you all the best - this must be so hard xx

Shallysally · 23/09/2024 22:07

Really hoping for a suspended sentence for you on Friday OP.

Wishing you all the best.

agoodfriendofthethree · 23/09/2024 22:08

I've read your other posts OP and I will be thinking of you on Friday, really hoping that you get a suspended sentence. I can't see any benefit at all to the public from you going to prison - you sound like a good person. When rapists are rarely prosecuted and people like Huw Edwards get suspended sentences, there is no way you should be in prison. I really hope we'll get a good update from you on Friday 🤞

Fernticket · 23/09/2024 22:15

Hoping & 🙏 for a suspended sentence OP.

ScottishLottie · 23/09/2024 22:19

Good luck OP

CanelliniBeans · 23/09/2024 22:19

Yes. This. Remember this. Perfectly put @BarbaraHoward

Gazelda · 23/09/2024 22:24

You've been so strong. Keep going, you'll get through this. You deserve to be able to put this behind you and rebuild a happy life.

Kitkat1523 · 23/09/2024 22:30

Wishing you well OP …hope it’s a suspended sentence

MrsBryanFerry · 23/09/2024 22:32

Oh OP I truly hope you don't get a custodial sentence - I cannot fathom how that would be in anyone's interests.

Good luck and I hope you are back walking your dog with your DC on Friday. Everything crossed.
