I want them to think about what tricks adverts use to suck us in.

They are year 9 so 13/14

the coke one with the half/mostly naked bloke is the class one imo - oh and the old 'milky bar kid' ones win the most annoying tune prize.

gigglewitch · 20/04/2008 23:35

had you thought of getting a bunch of tunes together and playing them bits, to see their response to linking a product with a piece of well known / popular music?

twinsetandpearls · 20/04/2008 23:36

that is a good idea gigglewitch

twinsetandpearls · 20/04/2008 23:52

are there ipod adverts on tv, I have found loads on ebay but am not sure which are genuine

The Flake adverts - from phallic objects to...Joss Stone.

Nescafe Gold Blend - the soap that ran and ran. Then follow that with the kelloggs cornflakes and milk ad.

Coca Cola through the ages, from 'I'd like to teach the world to sing' to the current one that looks like a video game with the song from Bugsy Malone. It's preaching Coke as optimism through the ages.

Hamlet - back in the day when tobacco advertising was still legal.

Any car ad featuring cartoon characters - shows how much kids influence family car purchasing decisions.

The new Budweiser ads (by Fallon, very cool IMO)

Guinness 'Horses' juxtaposed with 'Hands'

PlayStation 'This is Living' there's an extended 5 minute version on YouTube.

Any recent Jaguar ad - how to appeal to 50plus men who think that the buying right car really is like getting a penis extension. The men in them are always handsome 50 year olds with 20 year blondes draped over them.

twinsetandpearls · 21/04/2008 00:14

Not sure if I will be able to show an alcahol advert but the others look good.

They are going to be making their own adverts so we want to look at other examples

I have only seen one ipod ad on tv (...or was it the cinema)
how about Tony the Frosties tiger they're Ggrrrrrrrreat!

digitalgirl · 21/04/2008 00:16

hmm, just read that the students are 13/14.

Maybe show a load of mobile phone ads. They're always full of symbolic rubbish. Rainbow streamers?
Although, saying that, I do actually quite like the latest O2 ad featuring the CGI teddy bears and the 'two by two' music.

How about the lotto ad where the woman goes around with a bag of smiles.

Will any of them remember the Oxo family?

twinsetandpearls · 21/04/2008 00:18

that playstation one is fab, have never seem it myself
