What are some things your parents did that annoyed you ?

I moved out of my parents house at the age of 24 years old and it was such a huge relief. The freedom was simply amazing.

I especially moved out because of my dad's annoying behavior.

He was not a horrible father but whenever he would wake up before everybody, he would purposely make noise such as yawn out loud, Rip out the most ear piercing farts, he would use his phone without headphones and he would even come to my room to make me get out of bed even on weekends where there is nothing serious to do. It's like when he gets up, he wants everyone to be up too.

Luckily enough my mom is more reasonable and in the last years of me and my sister living with them, my mom finally told him to cut that shit out and let us sleep in on weekends. But he would still do these annoying noises or wake us up whenever my mom would be away on business trips.

What are some things your parents did that annoyed the heck out of you ? What are some stupid rules that they had ?

It can’t have been that bad if you were still there at 24.

That is really odd behaviour and annoying that your mother waited years before addressing it.

God so many things 😅 but what comes to mind is how often they interrupted me, then would say it was ‘how conversations work’. I got to my late teens and they’d ask why I didn’t talk to them much anymore 🙄

My father was very difficult which is why I moved out of home at 19.

That’s not really fair. I moved away for uni and had to live back at home because I just couldn’t afford to move out. I moved out at the same age and was going mad!

I was 25 when I moved out. They really didn’t want me to move out, but I was working shifts and my parents would wake when I did and ‘look out’ for me. They were retired and I just wanted them to relax. It was the best decision to move out as after about 7 years I met dh and I sold my house for stupid money. I couldn’t wait to move out, only because I didn’t want to rent, so saved up for a deposit.

My mum seemed to have no concept of food going off and would happily sit eating a sandwich with a big blob of green mold on the bread, and seem surprised if anyone pointed it out. Know idea how she managed to not see, smell or taste it. Not such a big deal once I was old enough to cook for myself, but even now cups of tea at her house are risky.

My DF would fart loudly and make a big show of it. Not sure it annoyed me so much as it meant he was in a good mood and that was something not to be taken for granted in our house.

DF hogging the tv remote

DM deferring to every word my DF said. Being the meek, timid wife who felt she had to do everything he said because he was the husband and the "spiritual head of the home"

The having to walk on eggshells so things didn't erupt

Petty rules around religion. I didn't mind so much about halloween being banned but other rules such as certain medical treatments or mental health treatments not be allowed and certain feelings like being sad or depressed or angry being considered sinful.
