They are really very lovely by the way, especially the cherry ones

Could do with some of those in my house - of course i have the ammo now.

Did you pay 8K for all of them, or just one set??

twinsetandpearls · 18/04/2008 17:46

very tidy cupboards, did you sort them before taking the picture?

DarthVader · 18/04/2008 17:47

never mind the wardrobes, your kids are GEORGEOUS!

ImightbeLulumama · 18/04/2008 17:49

is this to get an idea of prices for work for your DP>

soapbox · 18/04/2008 17:49

No.

The Cherry ones were £7,500

The oak ones and oak bookcase together were £9,000

The white ones and walnut book case together were £12,000, but walnut is very expensive, as I'm sure your DH will understand.

All of the wardrobes are solid wood except for the interior shelving (i.e. anything inside the bookcase cupboards and inside the wardrobes) and the back panels which are veneered mdf.

was thinking the same but didn;t want to come across as a bit stalkerish as I keep complementing people on their profile pictures.

TSAP - no - but the oak wardrobe is in the guest room - and the cupboard you see is the 'present' cupboard! So it isn't used every day

Aww - thank you Darthvader

They are actually a couple of years out of date - I must try and upload a couple of more recent ones

TMMJ - how can you tell posh from a photo of wardrobes - intigued

In fairness - they have been done over a few years - but it is a lovely old house and I felt we had to do it justice IYSWIM!

Thanks for that soap box, i am going to show these to DP, they are really gorgeous im in love with the cherry ones (i need them NOW). I can see that they are worth every penny you paid for them too - but im staggared actually, my DP would be able to make those no problem (I Do appreciate that the wood is expensive) DP made a stunning black walnut bathroom suite for someone - you know what, he charged 1,500 that was including tiling, fitting the bathroom and getting a plumber to connect up the water . Can kind of see where he is going wrong now .

And yes, your children are very lovely - i did mean to say that but so much at the cherry wardrobe - you know what they say about being a cobblers wife!!

I know, I know TMMJ - I was very a bit worried about posting the prices - but I thought bugger it - if it is going to help LEM price his stuff properly then I'll take the flak

OP posts:
lucyellensmum · 18/04/2008 17:57

lulu, yes, but am not wanting to hijack the whole wardrobe worship thing that is going on here

soapbox · 18/04/2008 17:57

X-posted

Nah - From what I hear all her stuff looks like 1960's MFI - at least once you get into the family apartments!

I was in love with the cherry ones (which are in our bedroom) but I have to say that I now love the oak ones. I think it is because the guest bedroom always feels like an oasis of calm, whereas our bedroom is rather less so

twinsetandpearls · 18/04/2008 17:59

I think that if you keep left overs in tupperware you don;t have posh wardrobes.

lucyellensmum · 18/04/2008 18:07

can imagine the chintz and ormalou or whatever they call it at Lizzies house!!! give me a bit of classy cherry any day of the week LEM wonders if it is worth canvassing royalty - but then thinks, nah, thight arsed buggers wont want to pay

ImightbeLulumama · 18/04/2008 19:19

my parents paid several thousands for bespoke hardwood shelving .. people will pay for quality and craftsmanship, your DH is selling himslef very short

lucyellensmum · 18/04/2008 19:33

Yes lulu he is, i hate to blow his own trumpet for him, but the work he does takes my breath away - especially as it is mostly done by hand with minimal machinery - the man is a miracle worker witha bit of wood - by rights, we should be raking it in.

lucyellensmum · 18/04/2008 19:36

while we are all being so nice - just looked at your profile, your children are lovely lulu x

twinsetandpearls · 18/04/2008 19:39

never mind the kids her husband is a dish!

twinsetandpearls · 18/04/2008 19:41

And only up the motorway, twinset plans to wipe herself down with babywipes, febreeze her best knickers and start stalking lulus husband.

lucyellensmum · 18/04/2008 19:46

I have just shown DP and asked him to esitmate how much he would charge for each - he was consistently 3K too cheep - i'm just trying to find a suitable pair of boots to wear when i kick him up the arse a'la bishop brennan later on

He too thinks they are very nice and they look well made
