Help! What kind of stairgate should I use on my awkward shaped stairs!

Blind-type ones can stretch. Or you can put up half a baby enclosure, usually octagonal but can be split up.

Can you just put one across here?

Hi we have exactly the same staircase as you and we just put one across the second step. We were told these stairs would be tricky but I promise it's nowhere near as complicated as all that. Just look up extendable ones and make sure it will fit (measure the stairs) and it's fine
My other top tip for anyone is just get one that drills in cos the pressure ones require a bar across the floor and it's such a pain and a tripping hazard I would much rather drill and fill holes eventually later

Also pp suggested putting it higher up but I don't recommend that as that still leaves a small height for a baby to claim up and then fall from. Wouldn't be safe

Our stairs are similar and this is where we put the bottom one. Our HV was quite nonplussed about it and said that climbing a couple of stairs isn't the end of the world (!!!) - we just made sure someone was with DD all the time in that room
