We live in a lovely if small 2 bed terrace. We were going to move but because of the current climate and the fact we love the house/area we want to stay put. We've made the (scary) decision to start ttc because we don't want too big a gap (dd is19m).

What are others experiences of fitting 4 into a 2 bed? The first 6 months are taken care of because if it happens the new dc would be in with us, but after that?? Are toddlers ok sharing with a baby? Terrified of disruting dds (fabulous) sleep pattern!

My friend has a 2 bed flat - the kids had to share, she couldn't move... they just got on with it.

It is possible, I think

Trouble is dds current bedroom is lovely (in fact the most beautifully decorated room in the house) but SMAAAALL! Our bedroom is large. Do myself and dh squish into the little room (with the jungle animal curtains ) and re-locate dcs into the big room or do some sort of dc arrangment in the little room, e.g when is it ok to have bunks?

And it's ok with a boy and a girl? This doesn't bother me personally but I know some other parents have strong opinions about this.

We've got a small 2 bed flat and 2 dds (4.4 and 19m)

dd2 moved in with dd1 when she was about 7-8m, IIRC

She was a crap sleeper and dd1 a fabulous one. But I could no longer cope with the incredible sleep disruption having dd2 in with us caused! So much so that I was prepared to have dd1's sleep disturbed

However, it worked out well...dd1, it turns out, sleeps like a log

They do wake each other up in the morning, but tend to play together in dd2's cot

And dd1 loves having dd2 in with her

Two is easy. We have a 'lovely but small' two double bedroomed terrace & a 7yo daughter & 18mon son. DS was in with us until about 3 months ago - now he shares with dd. They have a bunkbed, ds on the bottom with a bed guard, which means there's still floor space to play.

It's absolutely fine, dd really enjoys sharing & never wakes up if ds does (although he does sometimes get woken by her sleep talking). Don't see what difference having a boy & girl would make

We're planning to move in 4-5 years, I'm pg with our third now (that'll be a bit of a squeeze but we'll manage - baby in with us for a year or so then will probably put all three in the big bedroom & dh & I will move to the back room).
