Opening someone's NHS letter

So I have recently moved house. I changed doctors and address before I moved. A letter from the NHS was sent to my old address for my daughter and I was informed that the owners opened up the letter. She states that she is a nurse. I know that it is illegal to open up mail which is not in your name. Does this count for nurses and NHS letters? I want to confront her about it, but can't find anywhere on the Internet to state if a nurse is allowed to do this or not?
Any help would be much appreciated

That's why the royal mail created redirect.
So easy to set up and sorts out people having to be bothered by unorganised people

She's a better person than me.
I opened our old owners mail. Realised it wasn't ours and binned it.
And just kept binning it.

Yep, same here. We moved into a house 17-18 years ago, and the previous owners had not moved out when we got there at the agreed time of midday. 5pm they fucked off in the end.

They left a load of shit behind that we had to clear. The garden was a mess. 3 skip runs we had to do to get rid of all the crap they left behind! The place was filthy - and they had pulled out the dishwasher and washing machine pipes/tubes etc, so we ended up with a flood in the kitchen. There was also dodgy electrics, and the boiler was fucked.

Unfortunately, they hadn't bothered to redirect their mail. Lots of mail kept coming to our house. They popped around fortnightly to get it as they couldn't be fucked to pay for redirection. We gave them some of it but each passing week we kept withholding some and binning it. Especially if it looked important.

One SHE was desperate for... A £3000 cheque for a claim for P. P. I..... I opened it and threw it in the coal fire. They had moved 7 months earlier and were still having their fucking post come to ours! I binned lot of stuff and hope I caused them great inconvenience.

She had to wait another 6 months for another cheque to be sent. (By THEN she had changed address LOL!). 😆 There was also three Christmas cards that came for their children from granny with £25 each in. I flat out denied having them, and kept the money. It didn't quite cover the cost of all the shit that we had to pay for because of their negligence and all the crap they left behind. But it helped.

@Motherinneed48373783 YABVU. Get your mail redirected NOW. Well, tomorrow.... (Or Monday at the latest!)

Oh, and yes, it's a load of rubbish that opening someone's mail is illegal. As pps have said, it's only illegal if you intend to use what you find for fraud.

Or take the cash in it.

Good luck proving it 😅

I am not a nurse. However, I can understand why it was opened if I was. As it might contain vital.information which needs passing on urgently. They didn't throw it in the bin. Get a grip.

Don't be ridiculous. It's not illegal.

This has just reminded me that a few years ago a confidential letter to my husband, with sensitive information related to his mental health condition, was accidentally delivered to a house a few doors up the road and they opened it and read it. That was a bit upsetting.
