Asked today if I was pregnant...I'm not!

Walking home from work today and someone I used to know comes up to me and says "congratulations". I am so confused at this point and ask what for? She replies, "your tummy, you're pregnant". All I could say in that moment was, "no, just fat apparently". I went home and was so upset and can't stop thinking about it. I know I need to lose weight but this really hit hard. Anyone else had to deal with this?

Yes, years and years ago. I was sitting down with a bloated belly and a client said “Oh! Are you pregnant?” I said no. She tried to recover by saying “It’s just your……your…your FACE is fatter!” Gee, Thanks.

@TheDogdidGood wow! They really didn't have to add on that extra insult!

It's happened to me a few times and it feels horrible. I'm fat and do carry it round my middle. But nobody should comment on someone else's body. I hope you're okay.

The first time I had just had a miscarriage at 13 weeks, and was asked my someone I'd never met on a work course when I was due I was so caught off guard I stuttered 'i was pregnant but I'm not now.'

Another time it was someone serving me coffee, I replied 'I'm not pregnant' and she gave me a look like 'are you sure, you certainly look preggers' I brushed it off, but actually it still hurt.

And another time going for a massage then woman said she couldn't do it because of the baby and gestured to my stomach. Totally ruined what was supposed to be a lovely postpartum treat, ds was 4 months.

I don't particularly like my body but can get on with my life most of the time until some stupid comment like this. I've tried to lose weight but it never stays off and actually even when I've been smaller I'm still apple shaped.

It happened to me twice but both were well meaning so as much as it stung a bit, it didn't really bother me.

I'd always been really skinny but as I hit my 40s, I'd got a bit of a belly and looking back, I did look pregnant.

I realised it was up to me to either do something about it, or just accept that some people would assume I was pregnant, even if they didn't come out and say it.

Toning up seemed like too much of a ball ache, so I learned to accept it 😁
