I've just turned 42 my periods have been regular to date . Then out of nowhere my period is late . 3 days after my period was due I took a test and it came up negative. I've had all the signs of my period is due , (and I'm still experiencing) cramps, back ache etc BUT NO period.
I was due a smear test today which wasn't carried out as the nurse advised me it maybe too early for pregnancy tests to show up positive and to to wait another week then do another test and if that comes back negative to contact my doctor and request a blood test.
I got a negative result first when I was pregnant before!
But because of my age I'm not sure If this is the start of perimenopause.
I've looked up the symptoms of perimenopause and I've not experienced any of these symptoms to date other than a late / missed period.
Has anyone else experienced something similar when starting perimenopause ?
