Want to trace an old school friend. Have tried Fr etc but am getting nowhere.

I am a bit wary of sites where you pay to search the electoral role, paud 7 quid the other week and found nowt out.

Ideally i want to search the electoral role (last few years) and marraiges and deaths.

Anyone know of a genuine site that will let me do this and dosesn't cost a fortune ????

Nutcracker give it a whirl - or start a thread asking what people would think of doing one.

turquoise · 03/01/2005 00:00

I think it would be worth a thread asking others and Justine/Carrie etc what they think?

Gwenick · 03/01/2005 00:00

Is it any different to posting, say on FR, on the message board with someone's real name???

I'm sure people would only pass on details in private if they did happen to know the person.

Nutcracker · 03/01/2005 00:00

Eh sparkler ?? You mean start a thread asking if others were looking for someone would they ask on here ??

have you tried 192.com? £20 for one hundred searches but...i tried to find someone on there and wondered how they could possibly not be on it. until my form came that year and i saw there was a little box to tick if you only wanted to be on the version that isnt made quite so public. if that makes any sense? i think for that £20 aswell you only get 2003 at the moment, nothing before or after. (obviously changes as time goes on) the searches do last forever though...ive been registered there for about 3 years since we found my ex's sister.

SPARKLER1 · 03/01/2005 00:03

Nutcracker · 03/01/2005 00:04

I have Chicpea, had a bit of the wobbles about it after reading a stupid article though and decided to leave it until after xmas and then think again, which i will be doing now.

Just a bit scared i think.

Nightowl, had completely forgotten about that not being made public thingy.

Which article? Was it the one about Boots' lasers?

Nutcracker · 03/01/2005 00:13

Can't remember now, was in the mail i think.

Remember journalists love a good story as it sells newspapers and they don't always have their facts right. Boots had a number of centres in the UK and bought a laser which was known in the industry to be problematic. Boots have now closed and made a lot of people redundant and they can't even sell their lasers secondhand as nobody will touch them. It's a shame as Boots is a household name and hasn't delivered first class surgery and care to it's patients. Appalling.
Anyway, the offer is still there if and when you decide to go ahead. You did say on an earlier thread that you would like to have the op and now that you have the chance, you may decide never to go ahead. I'm not trying to persuade you, only giving you the opportunity. (Your family may be suspicious!!!) It's not something anybody can talk you into. Only you can decide. I had both eyes done, the first in 1993, the second in 1994 due to hearing patients RAVE about seeing without glasses/contact lenses. My ops were a complete success and that's why I am so positive about it.
Let me know if and when you are ready and I shall contact the relevant person (Leila may have left by then!).

im not sure nutcracker. out of curiousity (because i know where he lives!) i looked up dd's dad and he was missing at both his parents house and his own, didnt understand it at the time. i only saw that box on my form later..think it said those records were only accessible to police and such...i could be wrong though.
