Sorry I don't know, I give blood regularly too but can't remember ever being asked or seeing any warning signs, maybe it doesn't matter?

What's a shandy btw? (ignorant emoticon)

A large shandy will be out of your system by 5pm

Shandy = beer + lemonade.

I don't know if it makes any difference to the donation, but I'd be a bit lightheaded if I drank beforehand .

Do remember to drink plenty of water/juice in the afternoon and maybe have a snack as well

My friend was told at Uni her blood was slightly too anaemic to give blood - the nurse told her to drink a pint of Guinness before her next appt!!!

Apparently the alcohol in your donated blood evaporates before they use it... I asked the nurse... so you can turn up sozzled if you want
