My pet hate is parents who take their kiddies to the park, + a bottle of wine, and expect the other parents to entertain their kids and keep them safe. I'm perfectly happy for them to join in our game and mke sure they don't get hurt during the game, but if dd moves on to something else I move on to something else too-I'm there for her safety, not the safety of wandering child. There was one kiddie this evening who was really hacking me off-he was pushing dd off things to get my attention and jumping in the path of the swing so that I had to stop it quickly etc and he was a very large blonde child, and I kept singing augustus gloop in my head and accidentally sang it out loud under my breath and dd picked it up and started singing it too! Argh!! I am so embarrassed at my behaviour-I feel so bad-it's not his fault , and it was his mum I was hacked off at! Oh god!

well THAT'S ok

I thought you were going to say you pushed him in the path of a swing or something

hecate · 07/04/2008 19:36

I'm sure he didn't understand. Next time just say "piss off". No, I'm kidding just say "Go back to your own mum, I'm sure she's waiting to play with you." and go off.

Do they really sit in the park with a bottle of wine?????????!!!!

Hw awful

(sorry but I just giggled at Augustus gloop )

Twiglett · 07/04/2008 19:37

was augustus gloop the fat kid?

I often sing the brat bit to DS tbh

anniebear · 07/04/2008 19:38

There you go, your not bad lol

Feelingbetterslowly · 07/04/2008 19:42

I was worried I was a horrid mum bully! The park is right next to a pub, hence the wine, but it's a great park! (We do not frequent the watering hole of course-far too morally high for such antics! He he!) He was the spitting image of augustus gloop, he really was! xx

I've done wine in the park, but only a really nice day and only once or twice.

Also done it at seaside. Nice.

I occasionally sit in the park with a bottle of wine on SAHM days

I thought it was one of the advantages of being a SAHM

Feelingbetterslowly · 07/04/2008 19:46

But you would play with your child at the same time wouldn't you? It's not the wine, it's the complete ignoring of your child that annoys me-they don't even look at the child so couldn't save them if they were in a dangerous predicament xx

no I let mine play TBH

as long as they aren't screaming I just talk to my friends

I try to avoid playing as much as possible

Feelingbetterslowly · 07/04/2008 19:49

He he I'm digging a massive hole here aren't I!

No we need Proper Mummies like you to entertain our children while we chatter

nametaken · 07/04/2008 20:11

where I live it's an offence to drink in the park

NotABanana · 07/04/2008 20:13

OI!!! Don't talk about my son like that.

Feelingbetterslowly · 07/04/2008 20:30
