Is it ok to ask if anyone might like to sponsor Aero's (rather mad) husband as he runs the marathon for Zimbabwean orpnans this year?

He's running for a charity called JCF (Just Children Foundation). It is a Christian based charity which supports orphans living on the streets by providing care, shelter and education. There is no government help for these children and I'm sure people are aware of the current situation in Zimbabwe.

As he grew up there, he felt he would like to support this charity and raise some much needed funds to make things a little better for some of these orphans.

If anyone can spare a little (no matter how small) to support this worthy cause, he'd be very, very grateful.

TIA

One last try for tonight. I know not everyone agrees with supporting 'Christian' based charities (I sometimes feel like that myself), but tbh, there's little (if any) other help for these children, hence dh has agreed to support this little known charity.

Sorry to keep bumping, but there might be someone who hasn't seen this yet and just might want to help. Every £1 will help.

Aero I will sponsor my dear
My card is being replaced as we speak but will do as a soon as new card arrives

Aero · 01/04/2008 22:06

Thanks so much piffle. Dh will truly appreciate your support. I hate asking for sponsorship normally, but said I'd help dh out by asking my friends and mners, but refuse to bump more than a few times a day.

I know there are heaps of people running the marathon for many worthy causes and people will be supporting their own chosen charities, but I do think this one is worth a mention. He has always run for cancer research in the past, but Zimbabwe is his 'home' and what is going on there atm is heartbreaking.

Personally, I think he's completely bonkers - I couldn't run for a bus myself!!

Once my cheque has cleared I'll definitely sponsor him.

I think this is the same charity which DS1's school decided to sent the proceeds from their Harvest Collection too

Aero · 04/04/2008 22:25

Thank -you so much FAQ. Neither of us knew about it before, but someone we know told us about it and dh decided this was close enough to home for him to want to support.

I'm not on mn that much really these days, but have read bits and pieces of your recent threads. Hope you are ok - you're often in my thoughts.

I'd not heard of it before either (I think it's the same one.....sounds very familiar) until DS1's school decided to raise funds for it.

Thanks, had a really awful day, feeling incredibly low again, but feeling better this evening (just hope this feeling last a bit longer than my last "ok" session........

Aero · 04/04/2008 22:52

Glad you're feeling a bit better this evening, and sorry you're going through such a rough time atm. Do be kind to yourself.

Only a week to go for dh before marathon day, so trying hard to help him raise funds and awareness. It's hard to understand how difficult things really are and that basically, no-one else is supporting these children so badly affected by the AIDS epidemic, never mind the current crisis in Zimbabwe. Every donation will go some way towards improving quality of life for some of these children.

bumpity bump - this time next week, he'll have done it!
