10 month old - dummy and teddies for sleep

My son is 10 months old and very reliant on his dummy when he goes to sleep, he often wakes in the night crying for it. I read somewhere if you leave a few scattered around they will find them themselves and go back to sleep, however this doesn’t seem to work.

We currently let him go to sleep with his favourite teddy, we do take it off him once he is asleep to prevent any risk of SIDS. Did anyone have any issues after 12 months with leaving teddies or blankets with your little one while they slept? I know they say it’s safe after that age, but I do worry that perhaps it could not be safe? It’s my first child so I am new to it all haha

I’m also after any advice on how to stop him relying on his dummy, as I’d like to get him to stop using it as soon as possible. I’ve read that some people offer a teddy instead for comfort, did this work for anyone if you have tried it?

Absolutely any advice and information would be amazing please. As I’m currently waking 4/5 times a night just to give him his dummy back. He doesn’t tend to nap in the day, if he does it’s probably x2 half an hour sleeps, I’ve tried everything. So I am absolutely exhausted and desperately need a solution 😂

Oh my god this was me and still is me to an extent but it's way better

I got a bunch of these: www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk/products/done-by-deer-cozy-keeper-blue-birdee

And also only use the dummy for sleep now. He only gets the dummy the second his bum hits the cot - it's helped.

I also followed this advice religiously - it really helped: sleepmatters.ie/using-the-dummy/

A 10MO would be fine with a small teddy? Our ass covering American daycare made you get a paediatrician’s note for kids to sleep with a teddy but they wrote it no problem all the kids had them. At 12 months they can have a pillow and a duvet so I wouldn’t be worried about a teddy at 10 months. Dummies- chuck 10 in the cot and leave a dim night light on.

Thank you so much for the reassurance. I’m from the UK and my health visitor told me he can’t have any blankets or teddies with him until 12 months, but he sleeps so much better when he has something to cuddle of a night (understandably). It’s nice to have the reassurance that someone else was told it’s ok, especially from a paediatrician. I’ve managed to find some glow in the dark dummies so hopefully if I throw in a few more, he will find one! Thank you 🙂
