We have a new top of the range Miele heat pump tumble dryer (Miele T1 Excellence - oh the irony). Stopped working with a fault a month ago. Engineer came and said it was because I had used fabric softener in my washing machine (I hadn't). Said he needed to fit a new drum and sensors. Parts never came and machine still not working. Every time we call Miele GB customer services they hang up on us. We now want a full refund. Have told them this in emails, calls and more. No call back, no emails, and we are left with a broken machine. Apparently they know there is a major fault with this appliance but are still selling them. Terrible for a £1200 appliance (especially in the pinch of a cost-of-living crisis). Unreliable and terrible service. Waiting for Miele to respond. They used to be so good. Not anymore it seems...

My mother-in-law is still using her Miele washing machine from 1980, however, 30+ yrs ago Miele's 20 year guarantee actually meant something.

If we were to apply Pareto's 80:20 rule, do you think 80% of the Miele appliances produced in the last 10 years will reach the 20 year mark? It would be interesting to take a poll and see how many Miele appliances made in the last 10 years have not broken down at all.

If Miele were truly dedicated to championing sustainability should they not be offering lifetime warranties such as the likes of Briggs & Riley (luggage) and Patagonia?

Do you think 100% of all parts are made in Germany? If I had to make an educated guess the appliances are designed by German engineers, the parts are manufactured outside of the EU (most likely in China) and then brought back to Germany to be assembled before being shipped.

Contact CEOs office Miele UK with full complaint details. You should receive a refund.

I bloody love my big TwinDos! Completely foolproof, washes everything (and I mean everything from dog blankets to delicates to a super king duvet) with no fuss at all. Nothing pills or bobbles, woollens don’t shrink or felt up: it’s a miracle machine!
The engineer who came (repeatedly) to try to fix our (under 12 month)old machine, recommended the Miele. He also said that engineers DO hate them, but that’s because they never go wrong.

Totally agree! We bought an expensive Miele vacuum cleaner. Within six weeks of purchase a part broke and they refused to replace it. I’d never buy one from them again.
