How awful, and what a dreadful start to Christmas for you all. I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery and that you're feeling OK now too.

GRMUM · 26/12/2004 08:10

Hope that your sister is feeling OK today. Hopefully the doctors will be around today to decide on her treatment.Best wishes GRMUM

I'm sorry to hear your bad news, PR. Hope your sister is home soon - poor girl sounds like she was really knocked about .

misdee · 26/12/2004 10:39

dreadful news to get. hope your sister makes a good recovery.

Peckarollover · 26/12/2004 10:54

Thanks everyone, Im feeling loads better after a good night sleep last night. Spoke to fran earlier she is feeling a bit rough as spent the night being sick, reaction to the morphine I think. The surgeon isnt getting there until Wednesday so will now have to wait until then for news on the operation. She is being fitted wtih a different cast today though which should hopefully allow her to move a little bit.

So sorry to hear about this - glad her leg seems to be ok.
Hope all goes well on Wednesday.

Hulababy · 26/12/2004 22:23

Glad to hear that you are recovering from the shock a bit now, and that your sister is being looked after and cared for. Hope she is on the mend as soon as possible.

Heard today that DH's uncle, aunt, cousin, his gf and their two toddler children were in a car accident today too. Their car was hit by another. Children were the best as so well protected in their seats. gf and uncle have neck.back injuries but not as bad as first thought. They've all been released from hospital at least.

CountessDingDongDrac · 26/12/2004 22:26

Best wishes for a speedy recovery xxxx

Oh God, the poor thing. Thinking of you....

Peckarollover · 30/12/2004 12:40

I think I had a minor breakdown this morning, just so, so upset about everything and both times Ive had to take the calls breaking the bad news and go and sort it out.

Did they take a lot or make a load of mess?

Peckarollover · 30/12/2004 12:42

House ransacked tho not sure how much of that was her mess from before she went out. They took the computer, sky box, and all the presents from under the tree - they came back later in a car to get the TV etc I can only presume but were disturbed by neighbours.

vict17 · 30/12/2004 12:43
  • specially taking the presrnts when they don't even know what's in them
Hulababy · 30/12/2004 12:45

Oh no So callous and evil. Scum

I know it doesn't bring it back, but have you contacted their insurance company - and got a crime reference number from the police - at least they can start a claim to replace items missing. She may need a list of everything missing too - including the wrapped presents. This is so what you don't need.

Peckarollover · 30/12/2004 12:47

I know strangely they left two presents for 2 babies of our friends but think it was because they were hidden under the branches.

So very sad that she left the house on christmas eve just to go for few drinks and never got back and then some fucker has been in and taken liberties in her house!

Anyway - she has seen the specialist, she has had a brace fitted that holds the knee at 30 degrees, that will be on for 2 weeks then the same again at 90 degrees for 2 weeks, then she will have the operation and it will be year before her knee is stable again. As soon as shoulder is healed tho she should be lots more mobile.

Peckarollover · 30/12/2004 12:48

She has had a terrible few months before this including real terrible financial problems - she cancelled a hell of a lot of things to free up some money and I would be very suprised if she still has contents insurance.

The house has been on the market for a while and we just desperately need it to sell - it is far too expensive for what she can afford now, she bought when she was earning massive wage and now isnt but cant get rid of it

OP posts:
misdee · 30/12/2004 12:49

can anyone (big strong man with big dog?) go and stay at her place for a while, till she is out of hospital?

Peckarollover · 30/12/2004 12:53

The house was boarded up last night and we are arranging for new doors and locks to be fitted today.

Hulababy · 30/12/2004 12:53

I know it sounds horrible and it certainly doesn't mean to be - but has your sister (or your family on her behalf) been in touch with a solictor. She will be entitled to a claim for her accident - and because of her injuries it could well be a substantial one. Just choose a good, reputable solicitors firm and get the ball rolling for that.

She may also be abe to claim for some of her loss fromt he house through the crimal compensation sheme (or whatever it is called) - may be worth looking into.

fairyfly · 30/12/2004 12:58

My god im so sorry, about all of it, hopefully all the bad shit is seeing itself away before the fantastic new year your sister will have. Hope she is recovering well and as for those little scum buckets they may never come back, usually people as low as that are to smashed to bother. xx

Peckarollover · 30/12/2004 12:59

I think in the next couple of days we need to pull all the strength together and try and sort things like that out - I think she should be entitled to some benefits too.

Wonder if W&R is about to advise on any of this?!
