Dry socket cleaner up and filled fast. Should I still expect pain?

Hi everyone, 
I got an infected tooth extracted on the 12th. Started hurting quite a bit minutes after getting off the chair but blood clot was still very much there so probably just post op pain.

However, this morning, while washing my mouth with salt and salt I spat out the blood clot. Freaked out and went to my dentist a few hours later, before the pain of dry socket could happen, and he confirmed I had a dry socket, cleaned it up and filled it with medication.

Now, maybe a very stupid question but I'm really anxious, I'm wondering if the pain of dry socket was still going to kick in before the new blood clot formed (or does it form right away?) or if I'm safe?
