Have had two dodgy 'hiya mum I've lost my phone, this is my new number,' texts today and just wanted to raise awareness. I'm pretty tech savvy and my son is IN THE HOUSE, but the sense of knee jerk necessity to respond has made me see how easily people are sucked into them.

I've had a couple too, definitely a scam.

Well done for raising awareness - I've had a few of these over the last few months and it always takes me a minute or two to remember it's a scam.

I've had loads. Real dc know I would never pass them money on!!

I’ve had them too - don’t even have kids…

I agree. Awful and people need to be made aware.

I saw an even more shocking version of a “mum” scam on YouTube. You get a phone call from someone using a voice changer and it actually sounds like it’s your mum. And she says she’s broken down and needs you to pay a recovery service immediately and will pay you back later today.

Haven't had voice changer scam, will await that one!
