can anyone recommend a care agency for the elderly?

My uncle is not well and needs - pretty urgently - and possibly temporarily - some form of care in his own home. I'm worried about him, but also about my 77-year old mother - she lives close by and is at risk of taking on far more than she should - she is already staying with my Uncle and looking after him and it's really not an ideal situation. any recommendations for agencies that could have someone there for him asap? thanks

I think many agencies are really not that great where do you live?

contact your local social services. they should have all agencies in your area.

Has he been asessesd by a social worker or will he be paying for the care himself?

SS can reccomend an agency but do check their latest CSCI report on the CSCI website to get an idea of what they are like

thanks. he hasn't been assessed, as far as I know. I think the problem is that everything that's happened recently has happened quickly - but the doctors don;t really seem to know what the (medical)problem is - so they (my uncle, mum, my cousin) are kind of waiting to see what the results are - of various medical tests. so in the meantime mum's picking up the bits (cousin doesn't live locally). but it seems to have got to a stage where they need stop-gap care until they all know what's going on.

in that case ring SS to get an agency reccomendation, they will have a list of prefered providers.
