Asda?

TwasTheNightBeforeCatbert · 20/12/2004 20:29

The only thing to do is to go yourself, or to write a long list and give to a willing party, and shop at somewhere between 3 and 5 am.

It will still be surprisingly busy, but a sight easier that 3pm any day this week...

Iceland?

sleepdeprived · 20/12/2004 20:41

Iceland don't have all the stuff I want (formula etc.) but it would help ... How do I check if they have any delivery slots available?

OP posts:
wobblystarryknicks · 20/12/2004 20:42

Think you have to register on the site, but if you phone up instead they can tell you straight away. The number is on the site somewhere.

sleepdeprived · 20/12/2004 20:50

They have ONE slot left - 1-4pm on Wed. I'll be out!

Neither DP nor I are free till Xmas Eve!

Xmas Eve + supermarket + baby = Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

wobblystarryknicks · 20/12/2004 20:51

sd - is there ANYONE you can ask/beg/pay/bribe to wait in at that time? or anyone who'll be in that you can get it delivered to?

sleepdeprived · 20/12/2004 20:55

Hmm, might be able to have it delivered to the house of the friend I'm seeing on Wed ....

wobblystarryknicks · 20/12/2004 21:02

Do that then - far better than having to brave the shops, even if there are still a couple of things you need.

GoodKingWestCountryLass · 20/12/2004 21:54

The same happened to me and I tried booking 2 weeks ago!!!! I went to my local Tesco and it wasn't that bad, good luck!

nailpolish · 20/12/2004 21:55

ive dont this too - im going to get up at 5am xmas eve to do my shopping in the 24 hr asda.

thats the plan anyway

virginbonkerz · 20/12/2004 21:56

we will be trudging tescos at an unearthly hour of the morning with ds in tow! he can sleep all day!

sleepdeprived · 23/12/2004 09:43

DP went to Sainsburys AND M&S at about 11pm last night - and he was off to work first thing this morning - what a star!! So we're sorted (He said it was actually quite fun - he was the only customer in M&S and the staff were all quite jolly!)

Probably just as well - Tesco came to me last night with half of it missing so still have to go out today or tomorrow

sleepdeprived · 23/12/2004 10:22

Oh, I'd be furious if I'd gone to the trouble of being that organised

OP posts:
Newbarnsleygirl · 23/12/2004 10:26

We have to put on a buffet now for family tomorrow, last minute so we have decided to go to Asda tonight, though I don't know if it will be quieter and I'm presuming they'll still be open 24hrs! What a nightmare!!!!!!

sleepdeprived · 23/12/2004 10:27

Sainsburys was just like normal just before midnight last night apparently

OP posts:
seb1 · 23/12/2004 10:44

Asda are not 24 hours this week

asda hours

foxinsocks · 23/12/2004 10:57

I went to Sainsburys yesterday and didn't even have to queue (and I normally would have to!). Most of the supermarkets seem prepared and have more staff. We even got handed out chocolates while unpacking the shopping at the till which completely silenced the kids. Oh, if only shopping was like that all the time!

Newbarnsleygirl · 23/12/2004 10:59

Oh well, at least they're open while midnight. Think I'll just send Dh. It's such a shame I don't drive! LOL
