Do you have an American top-loading washing machine that takes a large load? If so how does it compare with the standard British type and where did you get it and how much was it? Thanks.
I live just north of London.

Rhiannon - are you still around? How did you get on with your Costco washer?

Well no, to be honest I am still hanging on to the Ariston as it is still working wonderfully after 8 years.

Having just returned from the USA I must admit my friend's machine seemed to be 'wearing the clothes out' as everything looked really knackered. So I'm still looking.

I've just bought a LG Turbo washing machine, and it's fantastic.
Hitachi make a similar model.
it's a top loader, works the same as a front loader but not as expensive to purchase.
I've had Whirlpool, Hoovers, and you name it - I'm very pleased with the results of the new one. You can buy the machine in three different sizes, mine is a 6.5kg wash load. It weighs the clothes and automatically decides the amount of water and washing time.
You can override the automatic settings if you want.
Remember to put your soap powder into the machine first - it then dissolves as the water is added.
Happy washing day.
