Want to make sure DS (6) can't accidentally access porn.

Any ideas which is the best netsafe thingy, or whether there's one built in to OSX 10.4?

Huge thanks to anyone who answers..

Not sure if this is exactly what you want, but I have my MacBook set up so that the boys have their own logins, and can only access websites that I have pre-approved. Any attempt to access anything else requests the administrator's password i.e. mine. Ds1 is 6 this month and hasn't complained about that so far. He's quite happy with CBeebies, Planet Science or Starfall as his only options! I do occasionally get a bit grumpy when dp lets them go on using my id though...

Oh thanks mummypig, I hadn't thought of that.

But do you mean that you have given him a list of bookmarks/favourites and he only accesses those? Because my ds has already worked google out, dammit..

Or is there a way of telling the mac not to go on anything except those three?

Thanks for helping..!

Hi again, you can set up your ds's account so it only goes to the addresses you want - and Google is not one of ours. He doesn't have any choice in the matter! It's under the Apple menu, System Preferences, System, Accounts. Both my boys have 'managed' accounts and there is an option for setting parental preferences for Safari and other software.

On the plus side, they like having separate accounts as they can choose a little picture next to their login id .

okay, brilliant, I understand now. Thanks a lot mummypig
