Motivation, inspiration and chat to achieve your goals!

hi,

I'm starting this thread as a spin off from another. A few months ago I was in desperate need to change some things in my life including losing some weight etc

Then thanks to RubyRioja suggestion I now have a treat lined up for when I am successful at the end, a lovely bracelet.. which I will head off to London to buy for myself.

Would anybody like to join in with a bit of chat and motivation whilst we work towards our goals?

So my reward is my bracelet, I will be getting this on Saturday 12th April when I will have achieved the following..

Goal Weight of 9.10 (I've lost 7lbs now and have another 8 to lose, I've also cut out caffine)
New bathroom completely finished (started)
Being single (dumped bloke on Friday)
New job (start on April 1st)

Please add your goals if you want or just shout at me to keep on track with mine. I'm feeling very motivated at the moment and I'm feeling better in myself by the day

I was just reading your thread - wow you've done so well!

I've been looking at the Mark Forster site too and in typical me style have ordered the book from Amazon of course believing it will solve all my many problems, though in reality I may not even read it!

My life is a bit of a mess. Usual stuff - weight, exercise, house, job.

Its knowing where to start. Where did you decide to start and how?

MascaraOHara · 10/03/2008 11:44

Well this did all start because I was feeling quite low and felt I needed a life overhaul.

I knew my job changing would be inevitable but felt very out of control with it all. so I decided to take that in hand and let people know I was looking. I had a few nightmare weeks as I had 5 offers on the table and didn't know which to accept. Once I accepted one I stopped worrying about whether I had made the right decision.

Weight loss, I put specific targets in my calendar each week - like 2lbs (1lb if I know I have something on etc). I work towards the next goal but remind myself of the overall goal. Seeing it written down in front of me everytime I use my calendar keeps it at the forefront of my mind. I have worked out an eating plan that really works for me and I'm not hungry at all. like now for example, I'm just starting to be conscious that I'm a little huingry and I normally have my lunch around 12 so it feels quite good.

The bathroom, I just went out and bought everything I needed one day then set about trying to find someone to do all the building work, install it, decorate etc but once I had the stuff I knew I had to make time to get it done iykwim.

I feel motivated because I had a goal.. 1st April. I feel even more motivated now I have a 'prize'. It will be very symbolic for me to recoginise that I've finally got my house in order (so to speak)

Excellent Ruby you need to give yourself a specific date and write it down!

also plan smaller stages, like I will have chosen my colour scheme for room 1 by x date I will have committed myself to colours and bought the paint/wallpaper by y date! remember to write it down..

Glad I'v got somebody to chug along with.

Come on niceglasses, pick your first goal and chat with us about it.

I was naughty over the weekend foodwise so I have been back on the wagon today

Well I have masses and I mean masses of clothes only half of which I can fit into. Plus my weight has really been getting me down lately, so logic would say weight. I'm not huge - I would say I have about 1 stone to 1 and half to loose.

So, yes, my first goal should be to loose 1 stone. I have motivation in the shape of a family holiday as soon as the kids break for the summer. So, a stone in erm, 4 months?

What do I do now? Break it down?

MascaraOHara · 10/03/2008 16:57

yes I have my weight loss goals in my Outlook Calendar at work. It flashes up every day reminding by each monday I have to be 2lbs lighter. Do you have something you look at each day or each week? I weigh myself on Mondays so it's in every monday.

Write down the specific weight and the specific date that is your target.

Decide if you are folllowing an eating plan like WW etc or just going to be good. I do my own thing but loosely keep track of my points (fwiw I have way under my 'allowed' points each day but don't feel at all hungry)

You've just reminded me that I have another aim to put all my old shoes and junk under the stairs on eBay! Thanks I will list one item every other night

I would go for 1 stone in 10 weeks.. it's much more tangible.

Can you afford to see and Independant Financial Advisor?

Make a deadline for finishing the current room. Pull an all nighter if you can get the kid(s) somewhere to sleepover for a night/weekend.

I did my bedroom on my own in a weekend (other than the finishing touches)

oh I have more progress to report..

Yesterday I got on the scales and although I was still ahead of my weight loss schedule I had put on 1lb over the weekend. I was very good yesterday as I wanted to get that naughty lb off. Checked this morning and had actually dropped 2lbs. I am now 3lbs ahead of schedule! YEAY!

I'll join,

I've sort of already started anyway so might as well share with you all I set these goals in January.

Lose 2 and a half stone (have lost 13lbs so far) Have joined WW and have been exercising!

Earn £1000 per month (not far off this and if you average it out it's more than 1k a mth)

Go on holiday abroad (going for a long weekend in may - its all booked, my passport is on it's way!) - we've never been abroad together and i never thought dp would agree to it because of the money and lack of passports.

Do lots of fun things as well as working hard! (we're going to see the Foo fighters in June and taking dd1 to see girls aloud in august)

Get my paperwork up to date (have booked 2 days off in june to get this done plus booked 2 extra days just incase it takes longer and if it doesnt then i can just relax!!)

I think thats' about it for now

Setting it all up in outlook is a good idea.

MascaraOHara · 13/03/2008 10:34

Yesterday I sorted a plasterer for tomorrow, and arranged disposal of my old bathroom suite. saving myself £160 by disposing of this myself instead of the workmen doing it.

Bathroom is currently being done though so hopefully after Easter that will be complete.
