Does anyone know how I can get this bat the hell out my living room??

So we've had this bat flying around our living room for over two days. We have tried openeing all the windows and patio door but for some reason it just can't quite manage to get through the openings. It always aims for just above. We have tried catching the damn thing in a butterfly net, but it evades us everytime. It's pretty damn good at that echo location thing because it seems to sense our every movement and is always one step (one wing flap) ahead. The cat is useless and has given up. My daughter has shown me close up pictures of a bat's face and they have lots of sharp teeth and I don't like it. Does anyone have any advice? We've tried chasing it out but it just won't leave. There is bat poo all around and I'm at the end of my tether.

Don’t take any tips from this family who had a bat in their kitchen.

I was going to post the same link! It makes me laugh so much and was the first thing that came to mind!

OP, call the bat people as suggested. They'll sort it. I shan't say to use your bat phone...!

I'd be inclined to lookup the nearest wildlife rescue if the bat people can't help. We live in the countryside and find injured wild things relatively often so I'm not too bad at picking them up. However, the people from the rescue are way more confident and have been able to catch things quite easily when DH and I have tried for ages. Good luck!

We get them quite often -we have a big front door -I open it wide and it flies round and round the hall then out.
I think it feels the cold air. So I would open the front door fully, have someone on the stairs with a large sheet to discourage it from going up stairs. Close other doors and encourage into the hall.

Not sure why windows didn’t work but maybe glass doesn’t reflect their sound very well. Maybe wait til evening when outside air is cooler.

"He's making a mockery of you, Derry!" really tickled me for some reason.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. The bat has gone!!!! DH managed to catch it in a net and guide it out the window. I think it must have started getting tired because there was no way that was happening before. It’s reactions were just too quick. I’ve just hoovered everywhere and cleaned all surfaces to get rid of bat poo. We can finally relax. I just hope we don’t get another one. DH thinks it came in from the chimney. If so there might be more! Fingers crossed, he is wrong and it actually came in through a window. We got some good videos out of it - one of me running around with a net that is NOT going on social media and the other of the cat watching it’s every move as it flew around in circles. Picture a cat with his head spinning around and you get the idea!
