Can you get a 13 month mot on a car?

Im looking at second hand cars and there are a few withh 13 months mot on them but i only thought you could get 12? Dh says you can only get 12? anyone know different?

maybe they got it done early? (guessing)

I think if you get the new one a month before the old one runs out, it can be postdated, effectively givng you 13 months.
