OH GOD! Amazon have lost my Xmas shopping!!!!

Aaaggghhhhhhh!!!!! Thought I was so organised getting loads of my shopping done in November via the internet. Put in a huge order with Amazon which they said they would deliver early December as they had to wait for one item and now it looks like its lost. Left them 8th December. They are saying wait 8 business days until they will do anything, but that takes us into next week which is too late for me to start tracking down replacements. Plus to now buy in shops will cost so much more. If I just go out and buy them, what if Amazon won't give me my money back. Feel very fed up!

It could just be taking longer due to the high volume of parcels on the mone just now? Fingers crossed for you...

pinkmama · 14/12/2004 10:57

I hope so!

they messed up for me last year too. ordered in good time, but it wasn't sent out promptly. i THINK it turned up just in the nick, but you don't want to chance it, do you.

get in touch and warn them that if it has't come by xx date, you will be returning the complete order. i'm sure they'll refund without quibbling. they should also pay for the return postage.

or if it does turn up at the last minute, you could always return the substitute purchases, and save yourself some money...

have you ring them up?
i did that last xmas

pinkmama · 14/12/2004 11:03

I can't find a telephone number for them, although there must be one somewhere, which is adding to my frustration as I have to wait for replies to emails. If I could speak to them I might feel better. Might try and track a number down. Did you get the order in the end Codswallop?

I hate amazon.
They've just emailed me to say that of the stuff I ordered a week ago, all of which said would ship within 24 hours, now 3 items will be 2 - 6 weeks and one may not be available at all! B@st@rds!
I'll probably be on hold for hours to those numbers, transatlantic oh joy.

Branster · 14/12/2004 23:15

i had two orders with amazon placed within the last 10 days, both arrived fast. Tesco online sell cheap books too (have used them too last wek and received the order OK). could you use them or something similar instead and when the amazon order arrives just send it back and ask for a refund. In fact, if they hand deliver don't accept the parcel so you don't have to pay return postage.

These were dvds, one was quite obscure, and they were all being delivered gift wrapped to different addresses because I'm in the US and I thought I was being clever and saving myself hassle.
I'll have to cancel the whole thing and start again. Arses Now it's far too late to post anything.

Branster · 14/12/2004 23:29

turquey . unbelievable! Ask for compensation. they have totally ruined your plans.

turquey · 15/12/2004 01:52

Thanks Branster. I hvae had a glass of wine and calmed down a bit, but they are due one stroppy phone call in the morning!

cranberryjampot · 15/12/2004 07:46

What are you all after and we'll see if we can track things down (esp Turquey as she's in US)

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 15/12/2004 08:23

turquey - similar thing happened to me only in the UK... was getting them sent to me because I'll see the person in question before Christmas. All were saying 24hr delivery on the 2nd December. Now the estimated delivery is 21st December!! Getting very panicky that it won't arrive before Christmas and I'm now having to arrange to make a special visit to exchange gifts

turquey · 15/12/2004 18:47

Thanks Cranberryjampot for that very kind offer. I've just spent a highly tedious morning cancelling/reordering/finding totally different things from other websites, so hopefully the whole thing's done and dusted now, but I really appreciate your thoughtfulness.
