Manchester - hotels / bars / clubs?

Hiya I'm not sure what thread to post this on! But me and my friend are going for a night out in Manchester soon, and I'm just looking for recommendations for hotels near to the nightlife? Many thanks!

What's your budget? I've recently stayed in Motel One, good value for money and any of them aren't far away from stuff, St Peter's Square or probably the Royal Exchange are good for Deansgate, Piccadilly nearer the Northern Quarter. StayCity Apartments are also great but more pricey.
