Recently was pottering along the shoreline of a tidal estuary in South West Devon and came across lots of mollusks(spell?) that looked like large oysters. So not clam-like in appearance. Got very excited as I had a real sense that prized open they'd be something delicous to eat inside.
Was I right? What were they? Can i eat them?
Done various web searches but with no success.
