On business websites, do you like to see photos of the people who run the company?

Just asking because my brother and SIL have a family business (property development) and are currently designing their site - they wondered if it was better for clients to imagine them the way they wanted to - ? What do you think?

I was wondering this too (for our website).

In general I like to see photos because it shows the company is real. It is also good for a laugh usually!

But I don't know if other people think that so not sure I want to put our mugs online.

They'd look like this: Grin

I don't think so, it's a bit self publicist. Although I would if it were a farmer/specialist food shop. I'm not sure why the distinction.

Must admit I'm not keen on sites which do. Our site at work used to have full head to toe shots of each of our directors!! always thought it created a very 'salesy/over the top' image of the company. But only my personal opinion of course :)

Surely having a website is all about publicity anyway?

Thinking about it though it does depend on the field. There are a lot of affiliate-type sites these days and you often don't know if you are dealing with a real company or some spotty teenager. That's especially true of property and travel (car hire, hotels etc).

Maybe it's OK if it's not the first thing you come across? It's just that all those kinds of pics look so cheesy.

I like to see a section 'About Us' which gives a brief description about why the people set up the company and its history.

BUT.... I hate it if it's cheesy or showy. Just got to be really down-to-earth.

I've got photos of me on my website, but working not just smiling at the camera. I like to prove I exist, my studio exists and I am a nice person, not weird lady with mad hair and cats.

I do quite like to see photos but if there weren't any it wouldn't stop me buying from a site.
