I have just recieved this email

Dear Abbey International Bank Customer :

Due to concerns for the safety and integrity of your Abbey International Bank account, we have issued this warning message. It has come to our attention that your Abbey International account information needs to be updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account in this year 2008 and to reduce the instance of fraud on our website. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update your personal records, this will lead to no future problems with the online service. Once you have updated your account records, your Abbey International Bank account service will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

To update your Abbey International records click on the following link:

I think it's a fraud one because i'm not an Abbey Banker.

What should I do? Just delete it or report to someone or what?

Definitely a fake. Report it.

theUrbanDryad · 19/02/2008 20:12

there's been loads of these going round - delete it or report it as a phishing scam if your email provider has such a facility.

Hassled · 19/02/2008 20:12

Just delete it - I had a very similar one recently but apparently from Lloyds (who I don't bank with).

bonkerz · 19/02/2008 20:15

I get them from abbey national and quite a few other banks who i dont use! DELETE or report.

catsmother · 19/02/2008 20:17

I have got "phishing" emails every day from all sorts of banks, none of whom I bank with, for the last couple of months. It's really p**ing me off because despite the "report a phishing scam" option I press every time, nothing seems to stop them. Not being very IT-minded, I guess they are being sent from different addresses all the time.

ChipButty · 19/02/2008 20:18

Have been getting these for about 2 months. Just keep deleting them.

MsHighwater · 19/02/2008 22:23

I have also been inundated with false emails very similar to this one recently. It is definitely false.

If you got to Abbey's website and hunt around you will find somewhere (online form or email address) where you can report it. I've been getting so many that I no longer report them, I just delete them.

Obviously you never never never click on the link.
