Will my baby forget how to breastfeed?

Hi there, Please no judgment i'm after anyone who has genuine experience. I have a 16 month old, i am going away tomorrow for 3 nights and 4 days - he's staying with my mum who he adores. I am still breastfeeding and ideally don't want this to be the end of it although i appreciate that he's 16 months he'll be fine if this is the end of it - i have no problem pumping whilst i'm away but i wondered if he'll forget how to do it or not want it when i come back! Does any one have any experience in this? Advice much appreciated.

16 months old won't forget. Don't worry it will all work out.
Just do express so you don't get mastitis

Not a chance! They'll be straight up your top as soon as you're back.

Your baby could be straight back on the boob or could never want to breastfeed again - you can't 100% be certain which way it will go.

My dd absolutely adored breastfeeding then one day completely out of the blue that was that and never fed again. You never know what could happen.

Thank you! That did make me laugh - he does tug at my top. My 2nd one also loved to bf and then just stopped one day I suppose I just have guilt over him stopping when he doesn’t want to because I’m going away rather than him choosing to stop.

I will def take a pump and express - thank you!
