My ds has just been invested into Beavers,he has been given 5 badges.
is there any measurements between badges i need to know.
i have printed from the website the positions but i am confused as to which is the county badge as we live in north somerset county which also used to be Avon county. so which is the county and which is the group?
i believe the Disrict to be Axe please correct me if im wrong.

no idea on the 'proper' places for the badges

my DS1 has recently been 'enroled' at beavers too, and I had the same problem.....

the troup name badge goes on the right shoulder at the very top, (just under the seam), and the bug huge green badge just under that.....

the purple scout badge goes on the left hand side of the beaver top, over the heart almost IYGWIM

what are the other badges?????

here

Psychomum5 · 15/02/2008 22:05

somersetmum that is a fab site, but their 'life size' placing of badges leave a lot to be desired, as I am spaced out for some of my badges now......

somersetmum · 15/02/2008 22:08

Psychomum5, I wouldn't worry too much - ds is in Cubs and his badges are "kind of" in the right places - and a lot of them are wonky

ok so i have sewn on the name tape about 1 cm below the scout logo on the sweat shirt and the Axe badge just below it on the left side of the crease. which badge do i sew on the right side of the crease? Avon/n.som?

When i was a guide(many moons ago) I think I had a diamond shaped Avon badge on the back of my neckerchief.

Sew them? Sew them?

You mean you're not using wonderweb and ironing them on

mckenzie · 16/02/2008 07:19

or giving them to your DS's grandma and getting her to sew them?

kidsrus · 16/02/2008 13:24

wonderweb?
no i sew them on its good excuse to sit down.
i'm not very good at sitting watching t.v or reading because i fall asleep.
i need something to keep my mind active and i also enjoy a spot of sewing in the right frame of mind.
would love to be able to make my own clothes but i haven't got the patience to measure, cut and pin. simple run the machine round is all i can do

This thread made me chuckle as I half guessed where DS scout badges went, until I proudly saw him on Remembrance parade and he was the only one with badges on opposite arms to everyone else!

I am dreadful at sewing and hate doing badges, and reminds me also of when DD went to brownies and was made to stand up and show everyone how clever she was to sew on her own badges. The awful thing was it was my stiching and they thought it was a 7 year olds,LOL, cringe!

kidsrus · 17/02/2008 21:22

ah bless, top marks for trying,i might have to unpick them all anyway as they could all be in the wrong place.
Im still none the wiser and have decided to sew the n.somerset next to axe badge and Avon badge under it.
N.somerset used to be Avon which is why im confused.
Thanks to me being a brownie and a guide i am able to sew badges, cook, clean, toast marshmellows and make welly boot holders!
Also sing around a camp fire
