Right, I have a very busy weekend with working and kids' activities. My Dad, bless him, has agreed to lend me some money which I can pay back as and when I can. He las lots of money but also has dementia, I have power of attorney which we will put in place when he's completely loopy How much can I borrow without being greedy/inappropriate and WTF shall I get? I need a people carrier, 4 kids (9yrs-18yrs) me and dh and sometimes my Dad. We go on hol once a year, this country and have to take all out luggage too. So, what would you recommend (not a Peugout 806 'cos mine has had millions of £'s spent on it and it's poo). I need advice, tell me what NOT to get and what's a good deal. Also, how do I do this? Do I take my Dad and his cheque card into the place and put money on it or what? That's assuming he can remember his pin no. . I'm not being callous BTW, it's the only way to get through something awful like dementia, a sense of humour and he's OK most of the time.

WELL- PLEASE FORWARD YOUR IDEAS because I have about six hours over the weekend to get a car. DH is off on a work trip and I need a car for work/school runs etc.....

A few people I know have bought vw tourans and love them. vw very reliable. we have a passat and love it !

Bit rude I know, but how much do they cost? I'm obviously looking at second hand and need reliable cheap parts if they go wrong.

It all really depends on how old it is and the milage. My advice is to get a copy of a local newspaper. There should be lots of garages listing cars they have for sale. This will give you an idea on price etc. You may pay a bit more than a private sale but if you are a bit unsure of things, buying from a reputable dealer may give you peace of mind (and a warranty).

Not sure but being vw's they last for years, especially if you get a diesel.

OMG I just looked at the Galaxy, £21,000? I was thinking of asking my Dad for about 5-8 grand...
