What was your most memorable/favourite New Years Eve?

We were in Copenhagen four years ago. They went absolutely wild with the fireworks. Families with young DC in pushchairs launching rockets over the river. Fireworks being thrown about near the Town Hall. A near constant boom which was really quite intimidating, coupled with an overhead helicopter and a strong police presence.
Fantastic display from Tivoli though.
Quite an experience.

Crossing over from 1999 into the year 2000. Dh and I had only been married 7 months. We had been at my parents house and waking home I remember the sky was filled with fireworks and we met lots of people wishing us a Happy New year. The world seemed so full of promise that New Year.

I went to New York over new years 2019. DH and I had just gotten engaged on Christmas Day, so it was a lovely romantic trip. New Year's Eve we went for a fancy schmancy dinner, then went to an Irish bar, drank champagne while counting down to midnight and watching the ball drop on the tv's they had at the bar. It was wonderful!! I had such a bag hangover the next day I threw up in a bin on top of the Empire State Building (one of my favourite stories though embarrassing at the time!!) . Best NYE ever!

The NYE’s we had as children my late Dad was Scottish and loved NYE. My DM used to prepare a big buffet with lovely party food and Dad would make all the drinks. We were allowed a very weak Snowball cocktail with a maraschino cherry on a cocktail stick as we got older. Lots of my parents friends and any neighbours who wanted to come in would arrive for the party. Music and the TV would be on for the Big Ben count down. My Dad would head off for a little walk round the block and a sneaky fag during the ‘chimes’ this was so he would be ‘first foot’ into the house, with his wee bottle of Bell’s whisky and a piece of coal. NYE have been disappointing since those times. No amount of persuasion would get my DH out out of the house on NYE or to have a party on NYE. If I ever have to watch one more bloody Jools Holland Hootenanny I will scream! Hoping to watch Glass Onion film while having a lasagna and a tipple tonight.
