Oh my days... the pain! Laser

So I had a consultation for laser hair removal (Brazilian) and during the consultation they tested along my bikini line which wasn't painful at all. So I immediately signed up thinking happy days I'll be hair free and it will be painless!

Last night I had my first session... mother of god the pain in certain areas was insane! I have put down a £300 deposit but I'm now super scared I can't go through with it! Im wondering if I should change to a high bikini option which would be less painful.

Does anyone know if the pain gets less with each session? Or worse as the intensity goes up!? I need to make a decision - please help! I feel so silly and wimpish! I feel so deflated! Please tell me
It's worth it!?

ive had lots of Lazer therapy, but not Brazilian. The pain doesn’t change. I used to take codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen before the sessions and breathe through the pain. I’m not sure I’d do it for a Brazilian- which few people are going to see- but for hair free legs it was def worth the pain.

I’m really sorry op, but I found each session increasingly more painful. (I’m not sure but it could be that she was increasing the intensity each time)

I’ve been to a different place this year and there is no pain at all. I think it depends on what machine they use

Oh good god!! I don't think I can take more pain! It's only certain pings that really hurt but when they do it's unbearable! I think I'm going to message today and ask if I can just have a high bikini line.

I spent a lot of time researching the procedure, safety etc but I didn't think to look up the pain! All you ever hear is that it's pain free etc! It's NOT pain free!

I've had electrolysis and even that didn't hurt as much, i have regular Brazilian waxes and they are less painful! My next appointment is in six weeks and I'm so anxious about it. I just feel so rubbish about it all! 🙁 I realise there are far bigger issues in the world but still

Mine hurt less as it went along, presumably as each time there were fewer active hair follicles.

I hope you are right!! Did it work well?

Yes, very well, had it done around 2009, still v happy with results

Is it a laser that blasts cold air while it treats?

PolkaDotMankini · 02/12/2022 22:28

I started a course of IPL this year following the Brazilian line. The first session was horrendous and I didn't think I could go back. It has been decreasingly painful at each session though and the results are looking promising. They're doing the underneath bits on a lower setting so it's taking a bit longer but the bikini line was completely smooth after session 2-3.

Mezmer · 02/12/2022 22:29

i have had lots of laser. The first time I had it done it hurt more as the intensity went up over the sessions. but it didn’t hurt much at the start that time. Other times I had it it hurt more at the start when there were more follicles to zap. It’s not pleasant but it should ease off as the hair thins out. Just ask them to turn it down and book an extra session or two to spread the treatment out a bit. This will avoid them doing a blitz in a few sessions

I'm having my underarms done and I think it's getting more painful, but the results are definitely worth it. I can't decide if I want legs or bikini line next, or if I'll be able to stand it...but then I look at my underarms and think hell yes...

Dacadactyl · 02/12/2022 22:36

I must have a high pain threshold. It was a bit uncomfortable and that's it. Wouldn't describe it as painful at all.

The feeling was the same on first session as it was on the last. Just a bit like an elastic band tapping your skin.

Even if I was in pain while it happened I think it'd be well worth it results wise.

Berthatydfil · 02/12/2022 22:38

If its hurting its working. The dark hairs are absorbing the light energy and frying their follicles. If you can bear it stick it out.

Yes it's got some kind of ice function so each time she zaps me she cools it off after.

I can only describe it as like a harsh instant burn?!? She counts to ten and 1-7 seems fine but then 8-9-10 is like fly off the bed pain...

I've had so many waxes and find them less painful

Worth all the pain. And the money. And God did they both hurt.
