for guides???? honestly, what is the world coming to?
don't they just sit and do sewing and help old people any more?

NoBiggy · 28/01/2008 22:20

Does she get a badge for doing it?

In my day we had to make tea.

TigerPants · 28/01/2008 22:22

Make sure she has 10p in her pocket for a phone call.
And a clean hanky.
at Barbie girl or chav.

I know and it made me feel old that I was shocked lol.

Also tonight they had someone come in and do a talk about drugs. Now ok that is a sensible thing to discuss, but I would have liked some warning that my 10yr old was going to come home telling me that you sniff cocaine up your nose.

She is going as a rocker by the way, but apparently, most are going as chavs.

lovely!think we may skip guides!

nutcracker · 28/01/2008 22:30

It's funny because one of the main reasons she goes is because I won't let her 'play out', because of the 'chavs' who we live by.

Lol! My Guides would love that!

Mind you most of them are Chavs, they just won't admit it

Re the drugs thing. I think that is ace, my old unit was very small and we used to just sit around the table doing crafts and chatting. Drugs and who at school did them came up a LOT (chemically enhanced they called it). I was just pleased that they had somewhere they felt they could talk about stuff like that.

nutcracker · 28/01/2008 22:34

Oh i think the drugs talk was a good idea, I was just a bit shocked to a)not be warned that they were having it, and b)to hear her waffling on about all different types of drugs and how you take them.

Hmm communication of the term planner is often pretty poor by many units (to be honest I think a lot of parents couldn't care less). I'm unit guider for Rainbows and I hold a termly parents' meeting for them to view our term plan and discuss it. Maybe if you would like to know about things like that in advance ask the Guider if she could give every girl a copy of the term plan to take home.

What happened to fitting 482 things into a matchbox "just in case"?

what is the world coming to?

nutcracker · 29/01/2008 09:44

Oh I am sure it is hard to let everyone know Indith, and I don't want them to think I am moaning about it as Dd gets alot out of going so, I should probably try and get more invloved really, but as it is at the moment I don't even take or collect Dd because I cannot actually get there, so she goes with a friend.

I take my hat off to anyone who runs a group like that voluntarily, I am not sure I could.
